Delhi in Winters

January 4, 2010 at 12:44 pm 19 comments

Being a Delhizen I have to write about our winters, though less that what it is in Punjab thanks to the pollution. Still nothing to beat a hazzy, foggy morning with no sun in sight for rest of the day.. Absolute chilly air hits you on the face but what a feeling of freshness it brings along with it! 3 days since the Sun God showed up, more than 200 hundred flights cancelled, trains in India are never on time and in the last few days they have beaten their own records!

Anyway, some ‘must haves’ to keep us warm in this sardi

  • Garam-garam Gjams with Sam on occasions like someone completing one year in office, first salary, a good client meeting, not so good report to pep up spirits. Basically If we don’t have a reason then create one to have the combo 😉

  • Umpteen cups of adrak wali chai

  • Dabbas of gajjar & moong dal ka halwa sent over by dearest mother and auntijis who think their kids ( read everyone over 25) must be missing home.. love you all!

  • Saron ka saag with dollops of butter and ghee and peanuts in between or after meals

  • Lazzing in the lawns after a lavish Sunday Brunch Punjabi ishtyle!

  • A wardrobe full of colourful mufflers, caps and sweaters not only to keep you warm but for that bright & cheerful look too! ( okay! I do think beyond food)

Must dos

  • An early morning walk or a late night drive to feel what winters actually are

  • Bonfire on January 13th!

  • Give away woollens to those who still wear clothes from summer for obvious reasons

  • Witnessing the 26th January parade.. a must see spectacular event!
Did i miss out on anything? then add…and for those who want to experience it.. please be our guest!

PS: 10th AutoExpo begins tomorrow till Jan 11, 2010. Will try to write a post from the venue

Every thing is great, except the foggy Delhi made the flights being stuck. Thankfully mine was an ATR. It caused a 4 hr delay and at the end of it, I was left with a soar throat and BAD headache.

But of course, I enjoyed the winter in Bhopal too. I had loads of Makke di roti and Sarson da Saag (My favorite) at Noor us Sabha. Maja aa gaya.

Waise you are going to the Auto Expo right? Yaar first hand photo leke bhejna jaroor. I some much wanted to attend the expo myself. 😦
