A Tax Free Year

June 19, 2010 at 7:51 pm 13 comments

When Patty told me his has a surprise planned- me being me got after his life to know what it was- I prefer to know what to expect in surprises you see ;). He unveiled it finally by sending me a review of taxfreethoughts.wordpress.com.

Must say Pats as a blog-reviewer is doing a good job-this is his third in a row and I guess soon ppl will start submitting him their blogs for a critical perspective.

Here is what he thinks; makes taxfreethoughts worth a read

19th June 2009, around 13:00 hrs…..I remember it clearly, because I got a ping on GTalk from Pal along with a link. The link was to her blog, which she had created about 15 minutes before, using a pseudonym…”Delhizen”. Some of us had had a glimpse of her writing skills, when she wrote a guest post for Mayur, a month before her thoughts became tax free.

The name Delhizen was chosen, because obviously she was and I believe is still in love with the city. Staying true to her pseudonym, the first few posts were dedicated to Delhi. Later on, the posts on the blog diversified and it is now very popular amongst many people.

When I started reviewing this blog, I had decided that I would not be biased and write a serious review, like a review should be. But trust me it is so hard, to do that. Especially if you know the author personally.

Delhizen’s Blog as it is known, is what I will call a complete package for those who wish to read and appreciate good stuff. No, she is not a known author or a big name in the world of writing, but to me and to people who know and have been following this blog, her posts are something we look forward to more than anything else.

The first few posts as I said were dedicated to Delhi and were about the city. The author of this blog has written on a variety of subjects, in the past one year.  Her take on political and social issues have been unbiased and always well researched. What makes her posts less boring is the fact that she uses both her brain and her heart i.e. rational and emotional parts, while writing such posts.

Since we all know that Pal loves love stories, so those won’t be far behind. Yes, she has written a few love stories and a couple of accounts of real life couples. I won’t say much about the stories, but just that one her recent works got selected to be featured on Blog Adda’s Spicy Saturdays. I guess that is enough proof for the level of her writing skills.

Sometimes she writes about her experiences and sometimes on her friends and friend circle. I just feel that I am lucky my name was there in a couple of posts she had written for her friends. Sometimes she just types a post just like that or JLT in her words. A JLT post may be a crib or a twitter like update on how she is jiving around listening to a song in office. In a few of her posts, categorised ‘me and media’ she has written good reviews of new magazines amongst other stuff.

Some of her posts have been poetries, which again are impeccable. Besides being a good writer, she is also an exceptional shutterbug. The snaps of her trip to Naldehra last year, are ample proof.

Now this review wouldn’t be complete without talking about the two guest posts by Dr. D. I don’t know Dr. D personally, but I can say that she is a damn good writer. And has tendency of choosing interesting subjects.

Pal has a style of writing peculiar to her. No one else can write in that manner. It is not too heavy and makes you smile, but it is still deep enough to make you think. Many times she has claimed that she can’t write to save her own life, personally I would take it with a tonne of iodized salt. I remember a saying that a diamond doesn’t know it’s own worth…..

Overall, I can say that Pal’s blog is popular not because she has countless friends, but because she is an exceptional writer. In a year she has carved a niche for herself. I congratulate her in completing a year on the blogosphere and hope that we will have many more decades of tax-free thoughts. 🙂

3 Cheers for Delhizen who has made the blog world richer since her arrival. 🙂

PS: Thanks Patty for being ever so generous and taking time out to so minutely observe the blog. Guys, I didn’t bribe or bully him for this 🙂 😉

Congratulations Pallavi. Its been a great year, is it not? I specifically remember your articles on your trips to Ambala, CHandigarh, Naldhera et all. I specifically remember your rant on 1984 riots as well. Then there were the stories, one also from Dr. D. Its been a great journey!
